Our own pages are not fully consistent on this point: the depository table on the home page lists a different depository for Noble Gold. Ask Noble to name in writing where your metals will be held, whether your storage is segregated, and what insurance the depository carries.

Royal Survival Packs are not part of the IRA

Noble Gold's 'Royal Survival Pack' is physical metal delivered outside a retirement account. Our home page FAQ cites cash-purchase packs from $2,000. Metal you hold outside an IRA gives you flexibility but not the IRA tax treatment, and gains are taxed at the 28% collectibles rate, according to our comparison with physical gold outside an IRA. Keep the two products separate in your head: IRA metals stay in the depository, and a home-delivered pack is a different purchase.

The $250 flat fee in perspective

The table lists Noble Gold's annual fee as $250 flat, with a $20,000 minimum. A flat fee does not grow as the account does:

• On a $20,000 account, $250 is 1.25% of assets a year.
